The Vermont Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 'America 250' summer festival tour this week, making a stop in East Burke as part of a five-town, five-day run. Music director Andrew Crust leads the ensemble in a program of orchestral favorites, paired with live readings of historic speeches and poetry.

Meanwhile, the Back Roads Readings series brings acclaimed poet and novelist Ocean Vuong to Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro on Sunday, July 5. Vuong, a New York University professor born in Vietnam, will read from works exploring intergenerational trauma, queer identity, and the immigrant experience.
