The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Orleans County remains at eight as of April 10, according to the Vermont Department of Health. Essex County has one case, and Caledonia County also has eight.

Orleans County is seeing about three cases per 10,000 residents. Essex County, with a population under 10,000, has a rate of two per 10,000. No deaths from the virus have been reported in the Northeast Kingdom.

Statewide, the total increased to 679 cases. State police said current modeling suggests mitigation efforts have slowed the projected spread of the virus.

New measures target group living facilities such as nursing homes, correctional facilities, and assisted living centers. Under the new protocol, if one person tests positive, all residents and staff will be tested.

Governor Phil Scott extended Vermont's State of Emergency through May 15.
