A two-vehicle crash on US Route 5 in Newbury on June 15 resulted in no injuries, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers responded to the area near Moore Hill Road at approximately 3:53 p.m. after a 2005 Toyota Tacoma suffered a mechanical failure that caused the driver to lose brakes. The operator, Werner Hegemann, 69, of Newbury, drove off the west side of the road before turning back onto the roadway, colliding with a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michael Gusha, 51, of Bradford.

Neither driver was injured. Hegemann was cited for a traffic violation under Title 23 VSA 1222, which covers failure to operate a vehicle with due care.

Newbury Fire Department and Woodsville Ambulance assisted at the scene.
