Vermont State Police arrested a transient man in Newbury on June 9 after he allegedly fled from a residence and threatened someone at the scene.
Troopers responded to a reported burglary on U.S. Route 302 around 7:05 a.m. Upon arrival, they spotted Jeffrey Emerson, 35, running from a neighboring property. Emerson had three active warrants for his arrest, according to police.
Trooper Rodzel pursued Emerson on foot and quickly apprehended him without injury. Emerson also faces charges of resisting arrest and criminal threatening.
He was transported to the state police Bradford outpost for processing, then arraigned at Orange County Criminal Court in Chelsea at 1:00 p.m. Bail was set at $15,000, and he was lodged at the Northeast Correctional Complex in St. Johnsbury.
The press release did not detail what the original warrants were for or name the person threatened.
NEK will be looking into the nature of the outstanding warrants and the circumstances of the alleged threat.
