Three longtime NEK residents remembered in obituaries

The Barton Chronicle’s June 17 edition featured obituaries for three longtime Northeast Kingdom residents. Anthony “Tony” Washburn, 90, of Hardwick died June 6 at Copley Hospital. A musician, teacher, and auto mechanic, he taught at Craftsbury Academy and later at the Newport prison. He is survived by his wife Linda, a daughter, and stepchildren.

Jerry Wayne Prue, 82, of Newport died June 6 at home. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Winterset for over 30 years and was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his wife Cathryn, children, and siblings.

Gordon Albert Lefebvre, 92, of Island Pond died December 2, 2025, in Lyndonville. He retired from the Grand Trunk Railroad as a conductor and served in the Army. He is survived by his wife Rebecca of 69 years and three sons.
