The Barton Chronicle has published obituaries for five area residents in its May 27, 2026 edition. Joan Gloria Watson, 90, of Island Pond, died May 14 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. She retired after 30 years as Orleans County probate court registrar. A graveside service was held May 26 at Lakeside Cemetery.
Irene Rachel Stewart, 97, formerly of Derby Line, died May 16. Born in Quebec, she married Gordon Stewart in 1955, moving to Derby Line in 1956. A private service was planned.
Linda Rose Smith, 80, of Greensboro Bend, died May 1. She married Richard Smith in 1964 and worked with him on the family farm. A private celebration of life was held.
Joseph Francis "Sonny" Roy, 84, of Newport, died May 11. He owned Roy's Tire Service and was a well-known local businessman. Arrangements were handled by Curtis-Britch Funeral Home.
Tracy Davis Pierce was also listed in the obituaries.
