Sutton man cited for assault, mischief after vandalizing vehicle

Vermont State Police cited a Sutton man for simple assault and unlawful mischief following an incident on U.S. Route 5 in Sutton on July 25.

Troopers responded around 6:42 p.m. to a residence at 714 U.S. Route 5 after receiving a report that someone was vandalizing a vehicle. Police said Justin Stevens, 33, damaged a vehicle belonging to Alicia Persons, 55, of St. Johnsbury, and caused bodily injury to Emily Welsh, 32, also of St. Johnsbury.

Stevens was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court’s criminal division on August 31 at 8:30 a.m. He was not taken into custody.
