The National Weather Service is monitoring the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms Thursday evening across Vermont, northern New York, and northern New Hampshire. The most likely window for the strongest storms will be through 9 p.m., although some storms could hold together until midnight. Not all areas will see storms, but any that develop could bring frequent lightning, torrential downpours, small hail, or localized damaging wind gusts.

A cluster of strong storms developed in the St. Lawrence Valley early Thursday evening and could affect northern New York, Vermont, or New Hampshire if it maintains strength. Individual storm cells have also formed ahead of that cluster in Vermont, along with storms north of Montreal that could drift closer to the Canadian border. Storms could come from either the larger cluster or isolated pop-up storms.
