Severe thunderstorm warning briefly hits Grafton County

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Grafton County on Saturday evening. The warning took effect at 8:37 p.m. and was set to expire at 9 p.m., covering towns including Lebanon, Lincoln, Plymouth, Hanover, Haverhill, Canaan, and others.

According to the NWS office in Gray, Maine, radar indicated a storm moving east at 25 mph near Piermont, about 14 miles northwest of Plymouth. The storm was capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

Police warned of potential damage to roofs, siding, trees, and vehicles. Affected areas also included Mount Moosilauke, Rumney Rocks, and a stretch of Interstate 93 between mile markers 75 and 103.

Residents were advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor until the storm passed.
