Orford man gets 35 years to life for 2021 murder of cousin

Lance Goodrich, 35, of Orford, New Hampshire, was sentenced Monday to 35 years to life in prison for the 2021 murder of his cousin, Brooke Goodrich.

The sentence was handed down in Grafton County Superior Court, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. In addition to the prison term, Goodrich must pay more than $11,000 to a state fund for crime victims.

Brooke Goodrich, 25, was found shot to death at her home in Orford on November 20, 2021. Lance Goodrich was arrested in Newport, New Hampshire, within hours of the discovery.

He was convicted of knowing second-degree murder, which in New Hampshire covers both intentional killing and reckless conduct demonstrating extreme indifference to human life. The charge carries a potential sentence of life in prison.
