Rounds of downpours and thunderstorms rolled through Vermont and northern New York late Wednesday, causing several road washouts in Hardwick and Wolcott, according to the National Weather Service.

Affected roads include Bunker Hill Road in Hardwick, and Marsh Road and East Hill Road in Wolcott. Additional washouts are possible on vulnerable dirt roads in the area, police said.

A flash flood warning was in effect through midnight after 2 to 4 inches of rain accumulated rapidly. Isolated downpours and thunderstorms remain possible Thursday and Friday, though the risk of widespread flash flooding is low.
