LYNDONVILLE, A Walden woman faces DUI and cruelty to a child charges after a citizen's tip led to a traffic stop on Broad Street on May 8.
The Lyndonville Police Department received a complaint that an impaired woman was about to drive away with a child. An officer located the vehicle and stopped it. The driver, Brittany Patten, showed signs of impairment by a substance other than alcohol, police said. A minor child was in a car seat in the vehicle.
Patten was arrested on suspicion of DUI-Drugs. A drug influence evaluation was conducted. Patten initially refused to provide a blood sample, but officers obtained one via a court-ordered search warrant with assistance from Lyndon Rescue. Patten and the child were released to sober parties.
Patten was cited for cruelty to a child and DUI-Drugs. She is scheduled for arraignment in Caledonia Superior Court on August 24 at 8:30 a.m.
