A New Hampshire man is facing federal charges after allegedly biting a deputy U.S. Marshal during an arrest attempt in Groton, Vermont, in April. Police said Christopher Palermo, 49, of Andover, New Hampshire, was taken into custody at a Groton home on April 24.

Palermo had multiple active arrest warrants from New Hampshire and attempted to flee on foot, according to court records. While officers were securing him in a police cruiser, he bit a deputy marshal on the bicep.

He is charged with assaulting a federal officer. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
