A rollover crash on Newton Road in Lowell late Thursday night killed a Woodbury woman and led to a felony DUI charge against the driver, Vermont State Police said.

Troopers responded around 10:23 p.m. on June 25 to a report of a single-vehicle crash near Cheney Road. A 2021 Polaris RZR side-by-side had overturned. The passenger, Maddison Hayden, 22, of Woodbury, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator, Randy Lemieux II, 27, of Lowell, was evaluated and reported no injuries.

Troopers observed signs of impairment while speaking with Lemieux. He was screened and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was later charged with DUI with death resulting and lodged at Northern State Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail. A court appearance was scheduled for June 26 at 12:30 p.m. in Orleans Criminal Court.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Vermont State Police at 802-334-8881 or submit a tip at vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.

NEK will be looking into the court proceedings and any additional details from the investigation.
