On June 3, 2026, at approximately 2:10 p.m., Vermont State Police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in Wells River. The passenger initially gave troopers a false name and date of birth but was later identified as Nicole Collins, 48, of Fairlee.

Troopers determined Collins had an active in-state warrant for failure to appear. She was arrested on the warrant and also charged with providing false information to law enforcement. Collins was taken to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing, then transported to the Northeast Correctional Complex after being unable to post $100 bail.

Collins was issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court on June 4, 2026, and a separate citation for the false information charge to appear in Orange County Superior Court on July 1, 2026.
