Vermont State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on May 30 around 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 5 and Lake Morey Road in Fairlee.

Police said Kate Magill, 40, of Canaan, New Hampshire, was driving a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek north on Lake Morey Road with a 12-year-old passenger. Magill attempted to turn onto Route 5 but failed to see a southbound 2021 Subaru Crosstrek driven by Kassie Covey, 39, of Thetford, Vermont, according to investigators. The two vehicles collided, coming to rest in the roadway.

Both operators and the juvenile passenger were wearing seatbelts, police said. No injuries were reported. Magill's vehicle sustained moderate front driver's side damage; Covey's vehicle suffered moderate front passenger side damage. Police determined Magill was at fault for failing to enter the roadway safely.
