A motorcyclist died July 2 after crashing on U.S. Route 5 in Fairlee, Vermont State Police said.
Troopers responded to the scene near Mountain Road around 10:42 p.m. The operator of a 2001 Honda motorcycle was traveling north when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck a telephone pole, according to police.
Bradford Fire Department, Fairlee Fire Department and Upper Valley Rescue provided medical care. The 66-year-old operator, of Bradford, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt. The motorcycle was totaled.
Weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash. Police are withholding the operator's name pending notification of next of kin.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Vermont State Police barracks in St. Johnsbury at 802-748-3111.
