FAIRLEE, Vermont State Police arrested a 20-year-old Newport Center man on a DUI charge after he drove past a crash scene blockade on U.S. Route 5.

Joseph Moore was stopped by troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks at 11:56 p.m. on July 2 near 1997 U.S. Route 5, where officers were processing an earlier crash. Police say Moore drove past the marked blockade and, during the subsequent conversation, showed signs of impairment.

Moore was taken to the state police Bradford outpost for processing and was charged with driving under the influence. He was issued a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court’s criminal division on July 22 at 8:30 a.m.
