Vermont State Police arrested a Newport Center man on a DUI charge early Thursday morning after he drove past a crash scene blockade on U.S. Route 5 in Fairlee.
Troopers were processing the scene of a crash around 11:56 p.m. Wednesday when a vehicle bypassed the blockade but was quickly stopped by police. The driver was identified as Joseph Moore, 20.
During the encounter, troopers detected signs of impairment, leading to Moore's arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was transported to the State Police Bradford outpost for processing.
Moore was charged with first-offense DUI and issued a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court, Criminal Division on July 22 at 8:30 a.m.
