DUI, child cruelty charges after East Burke crash

Vermont State Police arrested Jay Harrington, 41, of Campton, New Hampshire, on charges of DUI (second offense) and cruelty to a child following a crash on Kirby Road in East Burke on June 27.

According to Trooper Riley Fenoff, troopers responded to a report of a crash at about 3:07 p.m. and found Harrington's vehicle off the road, having struck a guardrail. Harrington was driving with his eight-year-old son at the time. During the investigation, troopers observed signs of impairment. Harrington was taken to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing.

He was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court, Criminal Division on July 13 at 8:30 a.m. No information on whether he was lodged or bail was set was provided.
