A Lyndon man has pleaded guilty to charges of cruelty to a child and providing false information to a police officer after he left his 7-year-old child unsupervised for several hours, including a period when the child was outside alone at night in cold weather.
The plea was entered Thursday in Caledonia Superior Court. The man admitted to leaving the child unattended for multiple hours, with at least 20 minutes of that time spent outdoors at night. The case drew concern from prosecutors over the child's safety and the conditions of neglect.
Court records indicate the man also provided false information to a responding officer during the investigation. Sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
