Newport City police and the city council have received numerous complaints about a group of people gathering at the waterfront gazebo and behaving disruptively. According to reports, the group's behavior and vulgar language have frightened visitors away from the boardwalk.
The issue was discussed at the Newport City Council's meeting on Monday. Police Chief Bingham provided an update on public safety concerns related to the gazebo.
