Newport police are investigating a reported robbery that allegedly involved a handgun on the evening of July 7. According to an affidavit from Patrolman Samuel Borsari, a caller told dispatchers around 7:42 p.m. that his brother had reported being held at gunpoint along with a woman at a home on Patenaude Court. The caller said the suspects stole property from the woman and fled in a red Dodge truck.
When Borsari arrived, he spoke with the caller and the resident of the home. The resident identified a driver who had not been charged as of this writing, according to the affidavit. He also named three other individuals who were allegedly in the truck: Miriah Lawton, 29, of unknown address; Brandon Pavelchak, 34, of Derby Line; and Nicholas Blake, 36, of Newport.
The homeowner told Borsari he had spoken with Lawton the previous day and informed her that Pavelchak owed him money, the affidavit states. No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains active.
NEK will be looking into whether any of the named individuals have prior criminal records in Vermont court records.
