Two Northeast Kingdom residents entered innocent pleas this week to felony cocaine possession charges in Orleans County criminal court. Jennifer L. Sanville, 40, of Troy, and Matthew Prue, 46, of Sheffield, each pleaded not guilty to one count of possession of cocaine and one count of possession of a depressant, narcotic, or stimulant drug.

The state had also charged each with selling cocaine, but Judge Rory Thibault found no probable cause to support the sell charge, according to court records. Sanville additionally faces a felony charge of aggravated assault and a count of criminal threatening. Prue is also charged with criminal threatening.

Newport City Police Patrolman Andrew Gonyaw filed the affidavit supporting the drug charges. The affidavit names two other individuals whose identities have not been released.

Both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. No trial dates have been set.
