On July 15, just before 4 p.m., Vermont State Police responded to a crash on Vermont Route 105 in Jay where a pedestrian conducting flagging operations was struck by a passing vehicle.
Police say Renee Orzolek of Craftsbury was working as a flagger for road maintenance when a red 2025 GMC Canyon driven by Colby Currier of Troy hit her. Troopers cited Currier for negligent operation after gathering evidence and witness statements.
Orzolek was treated at the scene by Newport Ambulance and taken to North Country Hospital with what police described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
