An 88-year-old Troy man was cited for negligent operation after his pickup struck a pedestrian who was directing traffic for road maintenance on Route 105 in Jay on July 15.

According to Vermont State Police, Colby Currier was driving a red 2025 GMC Canyon southbound at about 3:55 p.m. when he hit Renee Orzolek, 49, of Craftsbury. Orzolek was conducting flagging operations for a road work crew near Leavitt Circle at the time.

Orzolek suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to North Country Hospital by Newport Ambulance. Currier was not injured and was wearing a seat belt.

Troopers cited Currier for negligent operation after gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. He is scheduled to appear in Orleans Superior Court on Sept. 1 at 8 a.m.
