WOODSTOCK, N.H., A mobile home fire on Scenic View Drive early Thursday, June 25, left one person dead and another injured, according to New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey, Woodstock Fire Chief Matthew Cole, and Woodstock Police Chief Joseph Guerriero.
Firefighters responded to the scene around 4:30 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a home on fire. Upon arrival, they found a single-wide mobile home fully engulfed. A neighbor had pulled an adult female from the home but was unable to rescue an adult male due to the intensity of the flames.
The female victim was flown by medical helicopter to a Boston-area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Fire crews brought the fire under control at 6:52 a.m. After extinguishing the blaze, they located the adult male deceased inside the home.
Police are withholding both victims' names pending autopsy results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and notification of next of kin. The fire is not currently considered suspicious, but investigators from the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal's Office are working to determine the origin and cause.
Mutual aid was provided by fire departments from Lincoln, Campton-Thornton, Easton, Lisbon, Franconia, Haverhill, Holderness, Littleton, Plymouth, Rumney, Sugar Hill, Twin Mountain (Carroll), and Warren, as well as Twin State Mutual Aid Car 1 and Linwood Ambulance. No first responders were injured.
