An 80-year-old Canadian hiker was flown to Littleton Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 24, after suffering chest pains on Franconia Ridge, New Hampshire Fish and Game police said.

Police received a call around 4 p.m. that a Quebec man and his son were hiking the Falling Waters Trail near the summit of Mount Lincoln when the father could no longer continue. Ground rescuers would have taken several hours to reach them, so police requested a helicopter from the New Hampshire Army National Guard.

A Guard helicopter crew launched from Concord, arriving near Mount Lincoln shortly before 6 p.m. They lowered a medic to the hikers, then hoisted the patient, the medic, and the son aboard. The hiker was transported to Littleton Regional Hospital for treatment. Fish and Game did not release an update on his condition.
