Flood warning issued for Pemigewasset River at Woodstock

The National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, has issued a flood warning for the Pemigewasset River at Woodstock in Grafton County, effective from late tonight through Friday morning.

Minor flooding is expected. The river is forecast to rise above the 9.0-foot flood stage just after midnight, reaching a crest of 9.8 feet, before falling below flood stage late Thursday night or early Friday morning.

At 9.0 feet, minor flooding can affect nearby campgrounds and encroach on Route 175 in North Woodstock. As of 11:30 a.m. Thursday, the river stage was 3.8 feet.

Police urge caution near riverbanks, especially at night when flood dangers are harder to recognize. Additional information is available at weather.gov/gray.
