Newport man held on $500 bail after Irasburg speeding stop

Vermont State Police arrested a Newport man early Saturday after he was observed speeding on US Route 5 in Irasburg, according to Sgt. Abigail Drew.

Devon John, 23, was stopped around 1 a.m. on June 6 after police said his vehicle was traveling 92 mph in a posted 50 mph zone. He was cited for excessive speed and negligent operation.

John was ordered held at Northern State Correctional Facility on $500 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Orleans County Superior Court on June 8.
