The Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging (NEKCOA) delivered 58 holiday cheer bags filled with presents to older adults in the region this past holiday season.
The bags were made possible through the efforts of several community organizations, led by Paul Davis Restoration of Hardwick. For the past eight years, staff at that company have coordinated gift acquisition, wrapping, and bag assembly.
NEKCOA staff and volunteers helped distribute the bags. Ken and Janney Johnston delivered some of the bags through their home-delivered meals network, according to NEKCOA Executive Director Meg Burmeister.
“This community-led event is a wonderful example of neighbors caring for neighbors,” Burmeister said. “We are so very thankful to help in the distribution of such generosity to homes in our communities.”
