ST. JOHNSBURY, VT, A man was cited on charges related to an attempted vehicle break-in early on July 7, according to St. Johnsbury Police Department.

Officers responded to 43 Spring Street at approximately 12:59 a.m. after homeowners reported a man in a sports jersey trying to get into their vehicle. Video footage reviewed by police identified the suspect as Misbah Abdul-Kareem, 41, of St. Johnsbury.

Visible scratch marks on the vehicle were consistent with the use of a stick to gain entry, police said. Abdul-Kareem had previously been issued a trespass notice barring him from the property.

Officers located Abdul-Kareem at Arnold Park in St. Johnsbury, where he was taken into custody and later processed at the police station. He was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Court to answer charges of unlawful trespass, attempted unlawful trespass into a motor vehicle, and unlawful mischief.
