A little brown bat was observed roosting among crabapple blossoms in the Northeast Kingdom, according to a recent photo feature. The bat was photographed tucked into the flowers, a behavior typical of the species during spring months when they emerge from hibernation and seek shelter.
Little brown bats are common in Vermont, though their populations have declined due to white-nose syndrome. The sighting shows the return of wildlife activity with warmer weather.
