Bernard "Bernie" Flynn, a co-founder of the Kingdom Trails mountain biking network in Vermont and of Trident Booksellers and Cafe in Boston, died June 15, 2026. He was 76.
Flynn split his time between Barnet, Vermont, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1984 he helped open Trident Booksellers and Cafe on Newbury Street in Boston, a fixture in the city's literary and cafe scene. He later played a key role in establishing Kingdom Trails, a network of multi-use recreational trails in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom that has become a major draw for mountain bikers.
