A new community technology center in Groton is now open, providing residents with high-speed internet access and workspace. The Groton Connectivity HUB, located at 1334 Scott Highway, held its grand opening late June.

The hub features computer workstations, shared work areas, and meeting rooms that can be booked in advance. The entire space can also be rented outside regular hours with two weeks' notice.

Christine Hallquist, executive director of the Vermont Community Broadband Board, said in a statement that the center "creates a space where residents can access the tools and resources they need to work remotely, pursue education, access healthcare, and fully participate in today's digital world."

The center is the first of its kind in the region, and NEK Broadband police say they plan to build similar facilities across their district, which covers Essex, Orleans, and Caledonia counties, as well as parts of Washington, Orange, and Lamoille counties.

Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Fridays. Scheduled programming can also take place after hours.
