Greensboro voters at a special town meeting held June 30 rejected two petitioned articles that would have moved certain town meeting votes to Australian (secret) ballot.

On Article 1, which would have adopted all budget articles by Australian ballot, voters said no 101 to 77. Article 2, covering public questions, was defeated 85 to 59. Both votes were conducted by paper ballot. The meeting adjourned near 9:30 p.m.

During the meeting, Town Health Officer Karl Stein announced that the Highland Center for the Arts will be open as a cooling shelter on Wednesday and Thursday of that week.

Additional details from the meeting will appear in the next issue of The Hardwick Gazette.
