The National Weather Service issued a flood warning early Friday morning for the Missisquoi River near North Troy in Orleans County. Minor flooding is forecast from early morning to late afternoon June 19.
At 3:30 a.m., the river stage was 8.9 feet. Flood stage is 9.0 feet. The river is expected to rise and then fall below flood stage later in the morning, reaching 3.6 feet by Sunday evening.
Impacts include flooding of low-lying roads, including portions of Loop Road near Troy and Westfield, River Road from Troy to North Troy, and areas along Route 100 near Troy and Lowell. Farmlands and pastures from Lowell to North Troy are also expected to flood.
Police urge residents to avoid driving through flooded roads and to exercise caution, especially at night when flood dangers are harder to see.
