The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for portions of Caledonia, Orleans, Lamoille, and Washington counties, effective until midnight tonight. The warning was extended as of 9:56 p.m. on June 10.

Emergency management reported flash flooding in Wolcott, where East Hill Road near Young Road has been washed out and is impassable. Additional thunderstorms capable of producing torrential rainfall are expected through midnight, with 0.5 to 1 inch of rain possible.

Areas at risk include Wolcott, Elmore, Woodbury, Hardwick, Craftsbury, Greensboro, Morristown, Lake Elmore, and Elmore State Park. Police urge residents to avoid driving through flooded roads, as most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Anyone who observes flooding should report it to local emergency services or law enforcement.
