The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for multiple counties in northeastern and northwestern Vermont, effective until 8:30 PM EDT on July 1.

At 7:24 PM EDT, radar indicated a severe thunderstorm over Underhill Center, moving east at 20 mph. The storm carries 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, which could cause minor vehicle damage and down trees and power lines.

Affected areas include Lamoille, northwestern Caledonia, southwestern Orleans, northeastern Chittenden, northern Washington, and southeastern Franklin counties. Specific communities in the path include Morrisville, Johnson Village, Calais, Eden, Cambridge, Stowe, Hardwick, Marshfield Village, Westford, Hyde Park, Wolcott, Worcester, Bolton, Richmond, Waterville, Underhill, Jericho, and Morrisville Village. Interstate 89 between mile markers 70 and 79 is also impacted.

Residents are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for protection.
