After shuttering its Eastern Avenue arts center in March 2020, Catamount Arts is launching an ambitious summer lineup that includes live performances, outdoor galleries, and educational camps. The organization will reopen its brick-and-mortar facility in June with a new art installation in the Fried Family Gallery and weekend film screenings.
Programs developed during the pandemic will continue, including walkable outdoor art galleries, moving sidewalk fairs, and the 20,000-square-foot Catamount ArtPort at the Green Mountain Mall. The venue features ventilated, pod-style seating and has already hosted live performances.
Genre-defying rock band The Adam Ezra Group will perform at ArtPort on June 11. The Hey St. J! #GetDownTown street fairs begin June 12, offering free, family-friendly entertainment at three downtown St. Johnsbury locations each month. StJ Art on the Street, a walkable outdoor gallery, opens June 6 in storefronts on Railroad Street and Eastern Avenue.
The Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series returns July 11 at Dog Mountain, with free concerts every weekend through September 4. Featured artists include HuDost, Chad Hollister, the Blue Dahlia, Juice, Mike Mains & the Branches, Rev Sekou, Kotoko Brass, Oshima Brothers, and Cantrip.
Summer education programs include Harvey's Lake Water Ski Camp with Steve Dolgin for ages 4-17 on July 5-7, EPIC Music Summer Camp for violin instruction June 15-18 and June 21-25, and North Country Youth Chorus Camp August 16-20. A new Mural Camp date will be announced.
Catamount's Summer Solstice Raffle offers prizes of a Mahindra tractor, a 2021 Harley-Davidson Iron, or $10,000 cash. Tickets are on sale now, with the drawing on July 1. More information is at catamountarts.org or by calling 748-2600.
