Vermont State Police arrested a Brighton man last week on charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault stemming from an incident in late May.
Dwayne Calloway, 43, of Island Pond, was taken into custody without incident near St. Johnsbury on June 9 after police received a delayed report of a family fight at a residence on Railroad Street in Island Pond. The fight occurred in the early morning hours of May 21, according to investigators.
Police allege Calloway tried to cause serious bodily injury to a family member while a minor was present. He faces two counts of first-degree aggravated domestic assault and an additional charge for committing the offense within the presence of a child.
Calloway was processed at the Derby barracks and later ordered held without bail at Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport. He is scheduled to appear in Essex County Superior Court in Guildhall on June 10.
NEK will be looking into the circumstances surrounding the delayed report of the incident.
