Brighton State Park is home to the only Nature Center in the Northeast Kingdom, a one-room exhibit hall with hands-on activities for children. The park also features a nature trail, and naturalist Laura Lee Gray leads interpretive hikes during the summer season.
Gray engages kids with an animal track scavenger hunt along the boreal trail, where participants match paw prints to the correct animals. She also teaches about the role beavers play in wetlands, explaining how they build lodges with sticks, mud, and moss, and how their dams create habitats for waterfowl and other wildlife.
The Nature Center offers arts and crafts, a Christmas in July event, and segments on predator-prey relationships, bats, and rock formation. The center is open for educational events throughout the summer.
