A broken water pipe on Municipal Lane has led Barton Village Manager Gina Lyon to issue a boil water notice for parts of the village. Lyon said the water department repaired the pipe over the weekend and, in consultation with the Vermont Health Department, issued the advisory out of an abundance of caution.
Last Friday afternoon, Lyon and a village employee went door to door on Elm Street, Park Street, and Roaring Brook Road to notify residents most likely affected by the leak.
The state is now testing water samples for coliform bacteria. Lyon expects results within a few days.
