19-year-old Monroe man cited for DUI after iPhone crash alert in Bradford

Vermont State Police cited a 19-year-old Monroe, New Hampshire man for driving under the influence after responding to an iPhone crash notification in Bradford on June 18.

Troopers received a crash alert at around 8:08 p.m. from the intersection of Waits River Road and Lower Plain Road. No crash was found. Investigators determined a phone had fallen from a vehicle, triggering the alert.

Troopers made contact with the vehicle's operator, Kyle Johnson, who showed signs of impairment. Johnson was taken into custody and transported to the Bradford Outpost for processing. He was later issued a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court, Criminal Division on July 8 at 8:30 a.m. and was released.
