At approximately 10:49 PM, Vermont State Police received reports of a domestic incident in St. Johnsbury where a woman and her six-year-old child were locked in a vehicle while a male subject attempted to break in. Initial reports indicated the male was pulling on the handles of the vehicle in an effort to gain entry. Subsequent updates from dispatch indicated the male went back into the residence to retrieve the car keys and was walking back toward the vehicle. By 10:55 PM, dispatchers reported the male had re-entered the residence and locked the door. The caller said the male has no access to weapons, but there are concerns for a 10-month-old child still inside the residence with him. The 6-year-old remained in the vehicle with the caller. At 10:58 PM, the caller reported that the father of the 6-year-old had arrived to pick up the child, with no confrontation between those parties. The caller's phone battery was critically low. Units are on the scene. Further details are expected as the situation develops.
