At approximately 7:21 PM, the Jefferson Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Peddle-Dumptial Highway and Davenport Road in Jefferson for reports of wires blocking the road. At 7:26 PM, Jefferson Fire reported wires down in the road with a broken pole. Route 2 was closed in one lane as a result. At 7:27 PM, dispatch confirmed that one lane of Route 2 remained closed. No injuries have been reported. Utility crews are expected to respond.
At 7:42 PM, Jefferson K-1 reported they were on scene with Utility 1 and Rescue 1 controlling traffic one lane. The westbound lane of Route 2 was confirmed closed. Eversource was notified of the situation. At 7:58 PM, Route 2 was reported shut down in both directions as crews worked to clear the scene. Eversource was on scene addressing the downed wires and broken pole. Residents are advised to avoid the area and treat all downed wires as live. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
