At approximately 2:28 AM, Vermont State Police received a report of a white Subaru Impreza traveling at high speed on Route 5 from Burke. The caller stated the vehicle was doing 80 miles per hour and had another vehicle following it. A minute later, the caller reported that the second vehicle had rammed his car and then followed him into Lyndon. The caller's vehicle subsequently turned around and headed back north on Route 5.
At 2:32 AM, officers were coordinating to meet near Estelle's Restaurant in the area. By 2:40 AM, the caller reported that two people had taken off on foot from the scene, heading north toward the old covered bridge pull-off by Estelle's. He further advised that he had been rammed in the back by one of the parties, who he described as the father of children involved in a prior overdose incident. Officers began attempting to locate the individuals on foot. The investigation is ongoing.
