New York State Police arrested a Wappinger Falls man on felony DWI charges after a traffic stop and rear-end collision on Myers Corners Road on June 8.

Troopers stopped a vehicle eastbound around 6:40 a.m. for a traffic violation. Before pulling over, the vehicle struck another car from behind. The driver, Scott K. Deines, 57, showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests, police said.

Deines was taken to the Wappinger barracks, where a breath test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.28 percent, more than three times the legal limit. He faces two E-felony charges: aggravated DWI with a prior conviction within 10 years and DWI with a prior conviction within 10 years, along with multiple vehicle and traffic violations. He was issued an appearance ticket for July 7 at 5 p.m. in Town of Wappinger Court.

NEK will be looking into Deines' prior DWI record and the details of the crash.
