The Vermont Student Assistance Corp has awarded over $1.4 million in scholarships to graduating high school seniors across the state, with more than $150,000 going to students in Orleans and Essex counties.
In Orleans County, seniors received a total of $106,165. Recipients include students at Craftsbury Academy, Lake Region Union High School, North Country Career Center, and North Country Union High School.
In Essex County, scholarships were awarded to students at Canaan Memorial High School, Lyndon Institute, and Saint Johnsbury Academy. One student from North Country Union High School also received a scholarship as part of the Essex County total.
VSAC also announced over $4.6 million in scholarships for college students returning to school this fall. The scholarships, which range from $500 to $12,500, are typically renewable for up to four years and are based on factors such as residency, major, academic achievement, and financial need.
