As of April 10, the Vermont Health Department reports Orleans County's COVID-19 case count holding steady at 8, with Caledonia County also at 8 and Essex County at 1 case. The department noted no COVID-19 deaths have occurred in the Northeast Kingdom.

Per 10,000 residents, Orleans County has 3 cases, while Essex County, with a population under 10,000, has 2 cases. Statewide, the total rose to 679 cases.

Current modeling suggests mitigation measures have slowed the projected spread of the virus, according to the health department. Governor Phil Scott extended the State of Emergency through May 15. State officials also announced that when a person tests positive in group living facilities, including nursing homes, corrections facilities, residential homes for people with disabilities, residential treatment centers, assisted living facilities, and state psychiatric care, all residents and staff will be tested.
